Field Days — Cost-Effective Weed Management in Container Nurseries

Two field days are scheduled to demonstrate strategies and methods to improve weed control in container nurseries AND reduce costs. These field days are a collaborative effort between NCSU Specialists and our Area Specialized Agents. Topics to be covered include: Selecting the best herbicide for the job; alternatives to herbicides; weed removal strategies that reduce labor costs; as wells as guidelines for granular spreader use and calibration. A summary of information presented at the field days is available in the field day handout.

Eastern NC — August 23rd at Jerrico Farms Nursery. For more information on this field day, contact Danny Lauderdale – Area Specialized Agent for Nursery and Greenhouse crop production in Eastern NC.  This field day is being conducted in association with the Johnston County Nurserymen’s Association.

Western NC — September 7th at Hawks Ridge Nursery in Hickory. For more information on this field day, contact Amanda Taylor – Area Specialized Agent for Nursery and Greenhouse crop production in Western NC.
